As an organization dedicated to helping kick-start the kelp industry in New York for the environment and for thriving communities, part of what we do is educate people about what kelp is and how it can help restore local waterways while providing sustainable raw material for a number of industries. But we can’t do it alone! here are some ways that you can be a part of the kelp revolution:
- Subscribe to our email list to stay up to date.
- Do you like to talk (public speaking) or teach? Talk about kelp!
- As a subsidiary of an non-profit organization we always accept donations to help fund the work we do.
- Are you interested in or connected to anyone in media or social media who might want to strike up a kelp conversation? (So much of what we need to do right now is simply to get kelp into mainstream conversation in NYS—it's well-known in the aquaculture circles, but we need it to be universally known!)
- Are you interested in marketing and/or connected to any businesses (beauty/wellness, spas, agriculture, etc) that might want to buy, process, or make products? We need to educate and inspire businesses to spur demand (while we simultaneously work to build supply!)
- Are you personally interested in creating something with kelp? / are you interested in starting your own business? (Dreamy kelp salt scrubs, garden products, bioplastics?)
- Are you interested in working with kelp during harvest season and assisting groups/farmers with their processing labor? While we aren’t a farm and don’t have a formal volunteer program, we work hard to provide logistical support for growers; if you’d like to volunteer your time and see how kelp is grown first-hand we will try our best to pair you with growers who need help!
